Wednesday Wishlist 2/29/12

Hi everyone!  I made it back alive!  Snowboarding in Tahoe was so amazing!  The scenery is stunning and truly breathtaking.  Although the snowboarding conditions were not the best, we still had a blast!  I don't think I've ever boarded when it was around 45 degrees out.  The sun was beaming!  But yet there was snow on the ground from previous snowfall accumulation.  It wasn't until the day we left that Tahoe got a dump of fresh snow.  We were all pretty depressed when we saw these huge fluffy flakes falling down and by the time we left there was a good 7 inches of new snow accumulation on the ground.  GAH!  No fair!  Oh well.  I will definitely be back.  I'll dive more into my trip when I share with you all my photos taken through Instagram.  Unfortunately, I forgot the memory card for my camera so iPhone photos are all I have.  But more on Tahoe later!

It's Wednesday and that means a fresh new Wednesday Wishlist.  I haven't really had much time to peruse for a wishlist but once I got started, it didn't take me long.  Really the first thing that grabbed me were the B Brian Atwood shoes.  HOT HOT HOT!  I am so ready for sandals!  The outfit as a whole just goes to compliment the shoes.  Love a good flowy top and the Rag & Bone skinnies are really interesting.  It makes me think of skiers for some reason.  And the Olympics.  Does that make sense?  I absolutely LOVE this yellow Phillip Lim bag.  Since I've had two trips this month, I've been toting my Chloe Marcie and it's been amazing and it just proves that you will always need one LARGE carryall type of purse.  I am loving this color and the buttery soft looking leather which also looks like it could take a beating and hold up really well traveling.  I've also been wanting a big statement necklace but I always get scared to try them on.  Maybe I'll start with this Sibilia one.  =)  The Moonstone ring is also really eye-catching to me.  It looks simple but not.  I love it!

Thanks everyone for all your comments and love in the past week or so.  If you comment on the Drunk On Shoes Facebook Fan Page, it will be easier to see my responses if you have any questions.  I just sometimes worry that when you ask me something and I answer that you don't necessarily get that I responded on here.  I also post some random items, good deals, or just fun little tid bits so please like and follow the Facebook Fan Page.  =)  A few ppl have already found some good deals through it.  <3

Hi everyone!  Oh-mah-gah!  Thank you thank you thank you for all the lovely comments on The Hubster's post.  Yes, he is the sweetest.  I was pretty surprised with the post.  He did a great job and he deserves a ton of credit.  I suppose he's a keeper.  LOL.  I was so touched from just everything my readers have done to support me.  He's right, I get all cheesy and geeky whenever I see any new activity from the blog.  I'm an accountant so I am constantly refreshing my numbers and looking for new followers and new comments like a total blog nerd.  Thank you for taking the time to publicly show support for me and showing me some love on my birthday.  And for those who sent me a personal message or email, thank you so much.  One in particular definitely made me tear up.  *wink at Becks*  I feel like you all have gotten to know me through this blog and I appreciate the little notes that let me get to know you and your story.

I honestly cannot express how elated I am right now.  I know it may seem excessive but I do drown out my birthday for as long as I can and for as long as my friends can tolerate it.  Hahaha... So thank you to my wonderful friends for putting up with it and celebrating with me.  The fun is definitely NOT over because guess where I am going today... Lake Tahoe!!!  I have been itching for some snowboarding funsies but it's been so unseasonably warm here in Chicago that we have barely had any snowfall.  I'm probably the only person around here begging for another blizzard like the one we had last year.  I thought I would definitely get some fresh snow out west but you know what... there's no new snowfall going on in Tahoe either!!  What the doodle is going on!?  Oh well... I am still very much looking forward to it and to milk my birthday celebrations even more out west.  Tahahahaha...  I probably should be packing right now but I wanted to take the time out to do one quick post and to thank everyone for this amazing birthday I am having.

Thank you to the friends who listened to me sing Whitney Houston songs off key, as a tribute to a great artist, at the karaoke bar.  "I Have Nothing" was an epic song.  Thank you to the girls who came out and treated me to an amazing dinner and partied like rockstars, even though one was preggo.  Es, you prove that moms can still hold it down.  Totes understand why you didn't take the patron shot though.  Bwahahaha!  I told you that you didn't look preggo at all.  Sue couldn't even tell!  Thank you to all the birthday dinners in the week that followed and all the amazing memories.  I have gone out to eat for the past 7 days and I don't think I remember how to cook anymore.  LOL.  Thank you to Papa DOS and Sissie DOS for being the bestest family ever!  Thank you to my hubby that kept saying "Happy Birthday!" to me every day for 7 days.  This all would not have meant as much if I didn't have you to share it with.  On the REALS!

So these shots were taken after my BE&D shoot right around the Murray Hill area which was where we were staying on our NYC trip.  We were about to head to Soho for some light "window" shopping... okay lie, I totally shopped for real.  I changed out of my bright yellow jeans because I wanted some neutral denim to try on with other tops.  When going shopping, I like to wear neutral clothes and shoes so that it will compliment whatever I decide to try on.  Which is probably a really bad idea because I end up loving everything I try on.  Papa DOS decided to take some shots of me walking across the street.  This was probably the slowest I've ever crossed the street and I was trying to look so cool doing it.  Does it show?  It was a bit chillier this day so I had to bust out my muffs.  I'm sure I've said this before but I cannot live through a winter without these!  I am also pretty surprised I have not lost them yet.  Shoot, I'm pretty sure I just jinxed myself.  I actually have more pictures from this day of me in different coats.  We took the opportunity of the sun being out to take shots while we were out and all I had were different coats that I bought while in Soho.  I'll definitely be sharing those next week.  Thanks again everyone and I hope you enjoy the photos.  Keep the comments coming so I have fun things to read when I get back!  Wish me luck in Tahoe!  I probably won't have any new posts until Tuesday or Wednesday.  But there's nothing wrong with going back to July 2011 and re-reading everything right?  Oy vey, I really need to get packing.  Love you all!

Good morning DOS readers and subscribers!

Today’s post is brought to you by none other than “The Hubster”!  What’s the occasion you ask?  Well, today is DOS’ birthday!  And I thought it’d be good to give her a break today.  Something just occurred to me… isn't it ironic that she goes by the name of “DOS” and her birthday happens to be on 2/22?  I wonder if she meant that.

So anyway, I want to thank all of you for your support in what she does.  Blogging is not easy and she puts in countless hours into sharing her passion for fashion, food, friendships, and simply life in general with all of you.  When she sees a comment on one of her posts or a new subscriber, the smile that’s on her face is priceless.  You all mean so much to her and I thank you again.

So behind the scenes of her photo shoots for the blog, I want you all to know that I get yelled at A LOT.  Out of every 20 or so pictures I take, 1 makes the cut.  As you can imagine, it’s very frustrating for her and I’m surprised that I have yet to see a 6-inch heel flying towards my face.  On second thought, I’m actually not that surprised.  Her aim is poor and she would NEVER risk damaging her shoes in any way.  So maybe one day it will be a flip flop flying at my face.  LOL!  Additionally, I’m a pretty lazy guy.  I want to go where we have to go for the photo shoot (hopefully somewhere close to home), take a few quick pictures, and go back home.  She even has to beg, nay, FORCE me to go in the first place.  You see what she has to put up with to bring you all your weekly dose of DOS?

She truly is an amazing woman and I admire her for her discipline, fashion sense, level of passion, patience, and her childish excitement.  She is young at heart and tries to always see the joy in life and never take herself too seriously.  I’m super impressed with what she does on this blog on top of everything else she has going on in her life.  She even whips up a home cooked meal for us for dinner most nights.  She really uses this blog as a way to challenge herself and test her potential.  Each day she wants to get better and explores new ways to improve her skill-set, while still trying to keep it light and fun for all of you.  Do you know she asks me to read almost every post and says, "Is it funny?  I thought it was funny.  Why didn't you laugh?  Oh God, was it cheesy?!"

So on this day, I have a challenge for all you loyal readers.  The best gift we could collectively give her for her birthday is more public subscribers!  So if you’re not subscribed to this blog, please do so and share this post with as many social media outlets as you can!  I know we can do it and even if we don’t succeed, I know that she will be overwhelmingly touched by our efforts.  Also keep leaving her feedback on what you are enjoying and what you would like to see her try out in the future.  She loves to hear from all her readers and cheeses at every comment, FB like, and Tweet.

Thanks for taking the time to read this today and I know that my writing is not as fun as DOS’ to read so for that, I apologize.  Again, DOS and I appreciate each and every one of you.  This blog will only get better in time (as I get better in using a DSLR camera) and you all are our motivation!

Before leaving, please leave a comment wishing DOS a happy birthday and don’t forget to subscribe and share this post!  Thanks everyone and I hope you all have a fantastic day!  Peace!

BE&D and me

Hey everyone and welcome to all my new readers!  =)  So honored to have so many visitors in the past few days.  Thank you for all the positive feedback and support!

One our last day in NYC before hitting Soho for some shopping and lunch, Papa DOS and I took a shoot for a friend who has some BE&D bags she got during a sample sale and is willing to part with them for anyone who is interested.  She kept a few for herself of course.  =)  These bags have such beautiful quality, especially the python ones.  I love the studded details on the first two.  Hooray for cool metal accents!  If you are interested in any of these beauties, feel free to email me at dos@drunkonshoes.com.  These bags are all new with tags.

I tried to do the Wendy hairstyle in this shoot but I don't think I can rock it quite like she does.  Also because I think I have way too many baby hairs.  LOL.  Who else really hates their baby hairs, raise your hand?  It was fun trying out her tutorial though.  She makes it look so easy but I'm such a dud when it comes to hair that it always takes me 5 times longer to do anything.  =P  I wish I had more creative ideas with my hair.  Next I shall attempt the braid up do.  I had an updo kind of like it for J+D's wedding but it was totally done by a professional.  Hehehe...

Lambskin Tote (retail $1100, sample price $600)

Garbo Cross Body/Clutch (retail $775, sample price $375)

St. Germain Python Clutch with Glass Buckle (this one is my faaaav... retail $2200, sample price $900)

Crawford Python with Braided Strap (retail $3100, sale price $1400)

Gold & Pewter Leather Clutch with Chain (retail $600, sample price $190)

I hope someone can give these babies a good home.  I am seriously considering the St. Germain.  It's so versatile and can be both formal and casual and it also has an optional chain strap.  Woooot!  I love bags that can be worn in different ways.  Oh let's be honest, I just loves bags in general.  Hahaha...  So email me if you are interested!  =)  On a random note... 3 more days until my snowboarding trip to Lake Tahoe.  Wheeeeeeeeee!  Maybe in next week's post, I will be sporting a leg cast and busted lip.  So sexy.

PALE LEOPARD

Okay I went a tad out of order.  Woops!  This was actually before we went to Lincoln Center to see all the Fashion Week madness.  This was me, the morning after one crazy New York night.  After the CurrentlyObsessed.me event, I roamed the meat packing district in a wine veiled haze by myself before I had my bestie Anita and her roomie Somi meet me at the Standard.  Not knowing where the Standard was at all, I ever so elegantly wobbled away from the Soho House where the event was held and was just trying to find a place to go number 1.  Turns out I ended up exactly where I needed to be.  Which is some kind of proof that you get really smart on a few one too many glasses of Sauvignon Blanc.  And might I add, strolling in the meat packing district where it is ALL cobblestone, on six inch booties, in a wine induced happy stage, is no easy feat.  I literally lived up to my blog title.  Drunk On Shoes indeedio!  We proceeded to meet some really interesting and super duper fun foreigners.  Two who were from London and Australia who were there because they had just sold their company to Living Social.  Cool!  And also, another two Swedish gentlemen who had something to do with Spotify but at that point I was in no condition to retain information.  Hehehehe...  For all I know they could have been the founders.

So this is me, the morning after.  I had just finished nursing the effects of the prior night at Congee Village in NY Chinatown with Anita and Papa DOS.  That congee really did wonders.  I felt increasingly better the more I ate.  I highly recommend Congee Village and it's crab congee and seafood congee.  It's top notch!  Anita always knows where to guide me to some delicious eats.  Plus it's really sexy hearing her speak Canto.  =)  Of course Papa DOS was having the best time ever.  If he could, he would have eaten in Chinatown every meal of the day for the 3 days we were there.  We also had to scoop up some roast duck to go from his favorite duck spot, Big Wong King on Mott Street.  Don't be fooled by Big WING Wong which is also on Mott Street and has almost the exact same sign as Big Wong's.  I almost got tricked three times already.  The good stuff is at Big Wong King (although it just says Big Wong on the sign).

I honestly didn't really think about what I was going to wear.  I grabbed the first pair of jeans and soft sweater I had packed, and was out the door.  Pastel jeans are so great.  Just as great as neon ones.  Hahaha... But I love these more because of the pale leopard print on them.  Gives a fun twist to the leopard print denim trend that hit last year.  Understated but oh so pretty.  And when you are in no condition to think about what you are going to wear, it's perfect to go with any soft and loose sweater  or tee and you can still feel like you have on a fab outfit without even really trying.  So I hope you enjoy the photos and outfit I have here, regardless of the very little thought I put into it.  More props to Papa DOS for the photos.  =)

So this upcoming week is my birthday week!  Yay!  I celebrate my birthday starting the weekend prior to it up until the end of the month.  Doesn't everyone?  Starting tonight, my birthday celebrations begin.  It also falls right in the middle of restaurant week here in Chicago... so lots of dinners with friends.  Looking forward to it all.  Tonight begins with some good ol' karaoke.  YEA!  Absolutely one of my favorite things to do.  Hahahaha.  I am not a good singer by any means.  But who cares!  LA LA LA LA LA!!  I will try to keep the posts coming since I have more outfit photos from NYC.  Thanks everyone for visiting and reading my ramblings, I love you all!  =)
